NBCBN had the honor to contribute to the second Cairo water week, CWW2019. The network organized an interactive technical session on Monday 21st of October in addition to the contribution to the CWW2019 exhibition. The session topic was on the role of knowledge networks in capacity development and knowledge sharing, with focus on water scarcity research case studies from the Nile basin and the collaboration with other sister networks dealing with science and research dissemination and highlighting the role of youth water networks in water diplomacy and transboundary cooperation.
The session was divided to three key components; showing the role of collaborative research networks in capacity development and in linking water professionals such as NBCBN, the role of science development networks such as scidev.-net in bridging the gap between researchers and media for having a common understanding of key water problems based on scientific evidence research and transparent media coverage. The third part of the session showed the role of water youth networks in water diplomacy and transboundary cooperation. The session succeeded to show the link between different networks and how can networks collaborate, and learn from each other’s experiences to bring more impact on the ground.
